Four Photos and Two Videos of a Dramatic Colorado Mountain Sunset - August 23, 2011
Colorado Sunset In many respects, August is an overlooked summer month in Colorado.
Most seem to vacation in June and July, and in fact by late August,
much of the whitewater rafting season has come to a close.
However, the weather is still relatively warm and it's a great
month for climbing 14ers
or other mountains hikes. Also, this time of year tends to be a great month for sunsets.
Positioned west of Buena Vista, at the
corner of Gregg Drive and Chaffee County Road 337,
I captured a stunning sunset transpiring over the mountains.
The photos and videos speak for themselves. Enjoy!
I tend to show only the sky and the mountains' ridges in sunset photos,
but I liked the detail of the road and signs. It makes it feel like you're right there,
watching this Colorado sunset. :)
Pretty sky and colorful clouds.
The pointed peak, left of center, is Sheep Mountain (elev. 11,993 feet).
The main attraction happened over Mt. Columbia,
one of many fourteeners in the Sawatch Range to the west.
No doubt, nearly all us who live in Buena Vista, Colorado are very grateful! :)
