COTTONWOOD LAKE! (A Pristine Lake In South Cottonwood Canyon)

Cottonwood LakeCottonwood Lake is located in south Cottonwood canyon west of Buena Vista. Directions are simple: Go west at the only Buena Vista traffic light (C.R. 306) and proceed west into Cottonwood Canyon. Make a left at the clearly marked sign for Cottonwood Lake and proceed three miles.

From a photography standpoint, the timing of my visit to Cottonwood Lake was not the greatest. I arrived at midday when the bright sun wreaked havoc on many of my photos. Also, the brisk November weather had taken away what little fall colors remained. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable visit. I only saw two other people in the vicinity of the lake, an elderly couple who were fishing.

Mt. Princeton I took this picture of the massive southern face of Mt. Princeton at the turnoff for Cottonwood Lake. The lighting was poor, but the view was simply grand.
