St. Elmo sits inside Chalk Creek Canyon as a symbol of Colorado's grand mining history.
Today, a small number of old buildings sit quietly amidst towering mountains, and many
visitors of Buena Vista made a note to visit this scenic ghost town.
If you are feeling adventurous and have a 4-wheel drive, consider
continuing past St. Elmo up to Tincup Pass, the mark for the Continental Divide.
Lower in Chalk Creek Canyon, resides many B&B's, retreats and the very popular Mt.
Princeton Hot Springs. It should be noted that much of buildings and properties
remaining in St. Elmo are private property. Also, there are no services or public bathrooms.
